Responsible Lending Disclosure

Updated 17 February 2025

At MoneyHonesty, we don’t play games when it comes to consumer trust. We are not here to push people into debt, promote credit cards, push payday loans or hide the fine print. We exist for one reason—to help you make smart, informed financing decisions with complete transparency. Borrowing money (and specifically car finance) is too expensive to get wrong

We believe that honest information is powe and our job is to cut through the noise and give you the truth.

1. We Do Not Provide Loans, Credit Cards or Any Other Credit Approval

MoneyHonesty is an independent, consumer-first resource. We do not offer loans, approve credit applications, or act as a financial service provider.

We do not:

  • Sell your personal information to any company.
  • Push “too good to be true” offers.
  • Guarantee approvals, low interest rates, or eligibility.

What we do is provide unbiased insights, real cost breakdowns, and brutally honest guidance so you know exactly what you're getting into before moving forward with the financial products and services we cover.

Our Golden Rule: Never take agree to any financial product without understanding its terms, true costs, and risks. This rule underpins the extensive resources found on MoneyHonesty.

2. Encouraging Responsible Borrowing

Loans and finance can be powerful financial tools—but they can also become financial traps if consumers aren’t armed with the right knowledge. We stand by the following principles of responsible borrowing:

  • Understand the True Cost of a Loan - Interest rates, fees, hidden charges—these all add up. Don’t just focus on the monthly payment.
  • Avoid Predatory Lending Practices - If a loan seems too easy to get, has sky-high rates, or uses tricky language, it’s probably a trap.
  • Compare Before You Commit - Never take the first loan you see—better deals exist, and we show you where to find them.
  • Borrow Only What You Can Afford - A car loan should fit into your budget without causing financial strain. If it doesn’t, it’s the wrong loan.

Important: We strongly encourage you to read every lender agreement in full, ask questions, and never sign anything you don’t fully understand.

If a lender is pressuring you into a decision, walk away. Responsible lenders don’t rush borrowers.

3. Transparency in Loan Information

Unlike many finance websites, we don’t hide behind vague explanations or sponsored rankings. We break down lenders and brokers so you understand:

  • Who the lender is (and whether they have a history of complaints)
  • The fees and repayment terms
  • The interest rate range
  • What happens if you miss a payment

That said, we are not lenders and we cannot guarantee:

  • Loan approvals or eligibility.
  • The interest rate you’ll receive.
  • That a lender won’t change their terms.

Know This: Lenders adjust rates and policies all the time, and your credit score, income, and financial profile will determine your actual loan terms. That’s why we urge you to verify every detail directly with the lender before applying.

Pro Tip: If a lender refuses to disclose their fees or insists they "don’t check credit," that’s a red flag. Stay far away.

4. Reporting Unethical Practices

The Financial Ombudsman Service is a free and easy-to-use service that settles complaints between consumers and businesses that provide financial services. It resolve disputes fairly and impartially, and has the power to put things right. Making a complaint is free.
